Google Profiles and Privacy
alt

Google has made it easier for people to search for you on Google. Google profiles are a new tool that will help you get found. You are able to create a profile including a bio and links to your other profiles on FaceBook, Twitter, MySpace, Classmates and other social media sites. If you want old friends, family and classmates to find you this will help them when they search.

Obviously, the more information you put in your profile the easier it will be for long lost friends to find you. On the other hand, it will also give other people an easier time in finding you as well. Such as, potential employers, skip tracers, collections agencies, the government and your enemies. There is a privacy issue. All the information is information you put up, so be careful what you put up there.

I recommend that if you use the site, be deliberate about what information you place on the Internet. That goes for any social media website or blog. Remember everyone can view it and treat it as such. That includes potential employers. Keep everything you put on the Internet professional and superficial.

If you are totally freaked out, create a profile and fill it with disinformation.   Obviously, outrageous disinformation may get a laugh, but may also come back and bite you.
